Following the loss of her best childhood friend Katherine, Charlie, a young journalist, is both honored and frightened to be asked to write her eulogy. She returns home to Camden, Maine, where she hides at her father’s remote country house to write. Charlie turns to what she knows, gathering the facts of her friend’s life in an attempt to capture Katherine in writing and use language to comprehend and overcome her grief. Just as she grows frustrated with this process, two close childhood friends, Grace and Jen arrive at Charlie’s house to drag her out of solitude. Vivid memories of Katherine, both painful and exciting are provoked as Charlie slowly reconnects with her friends, which lead her to revisit the places and people that she and Katherine shared, searching for “facts” to help her write a definitive portrait of her friend.
